Take a few-hours trip to the Emerald Grotto, one of the most iconic attractions on this stretch of coast. This cave was discovered in 1932 by a local fisherman. Its name is inspired by the turquoise-green shades of its water that make this place look a kind of heaven. Its walls are made of limestone stalagmites and stalactites.

The Emerald Grotto (Grotta dello Smeraldo) is located half-way between Positano and Amalfi in Conca dei Marini. It’s reachable via land through the SS 163 coastal highway. A lift will get you down where you can embark on a boat that will bring you there. In alternative, you can join a private guided-tour from Sorrento, Amalfi or Positano where a stop at the Emerald Grotto is also included.

A key attraction of this marine cave is the nativity placed underwater and built in 1956.
